Back to Basics this V-Day

Happy Sunday all!!

I’ve been MIA on the blog lately…….

I write when I am inspired, I write when I have time and I write because I want to. Sadly and unfortunately, I haven’t had any of that recently. However, instead of being upset about it (I was for like, 2 mins), I’m just going to accept it and move on.

That’s why, I am writing to you TODAY! It’s a Sunday and I have nothing to do, so I am going to write…about Valentine’s Day of all things! I know last year I put out two gift guides, and that was awesome and you all really liked it. However, when I think about what I just wrote about inspiration, I did not feel inspired to write a gift guide this year and here’s why…

Valentine’s Day is awesome and for the most part, I really enjoy it. Mostly because I am in a relationship and have a reason to celebrate love, but also because a day devoted to love and commitment is really nice and chivalrous in a way, which we don’t see much of anymore.

However, I wanted to just go back to the basics this Valentine’s Day and instead of promote my favorite things and the best gifts, just talk about ways to share an evening with the person you love.

I get home from work really late every night so I don’t get to see my significant other as much as I would like. That’s why this Valentine’s Day, if he dropped by with some roses and a hug and asked me to hangout and watch one of our Netflix shows, I would be more than happy with that idea of a V-Day. Come the weekend, if we wanted to grab a bite to eat and share a glass of wine together, I would love that too. It seems like this year more than any year, the holidays, my birthday and Valentine’s Day all seem really close together. The last thing I need is another gift — if I am being completely honest. (I’ll regret saying that when it’s the middle of July and I’ve gone gift-less for five months and still have another 6 gift-less months ahead of me). I guess it’s because the fact that I am working full time now, time just seems to fly by. The bottom line is, what I want most this Valentine’s Day is to spend time with my guy, enjoy a glass of wine and relax. I’d like to reflect on love, and that’s how I am taking it back to the basics this year.

No gift guide, no favorite things — just plain ol’ blogging and loving.

Xx, Rae
