Minimal Christmas Decor: Apartment

This year was the first year that I wasn’t home with all of my moms Christmas decor and I have to say, it was pretty hard for me!

Living with Mike I never get homesick, I always feel like I’m exactly where I belong (as opposed to college when I wanted to be home at all times). However, I have to say that this Christmas season, I really feared that my apartment Christmas decor wouldn’t live up to the decor at my house and I would be sad for once. My decor definitely doesn’t live up to my parents, but it does do the job!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that the ONLY Black Friday shopping I did was the Target holiday sale online. Honestly, I have never been prouder to spend $50 in my life! I ordered about 20 decor items (this didn’t include my tree & ornaments) but I got it all for half off — and some of it arrived to my door within 2 days!

Let’s get into some photos and why I love my minimal decor that fits perfectly in my apartment!

My tree

My friend Brooke got her tree before me, and when I saw hers, I had to have the same one!! This tree was $59 at Michaels Craft Store and fits really well in my apartment. It’s 7ft tall and pretty narrow. I also got my shatterproof ornaments at Michaels! This was a pretty cost effective option if you have an apartment.

Coffee table

I took a glass vase that I had at home already and filled it with scented pine cones from target that I got for $5 a bag for 12 pieces and a pine stemmed dried arrangement. This is nice and understated to look at when sitting on my couch!

Wall decor

Mike put up some wall decor hangers on the wall on either side of the TV, so I thought that was the perfect way to dress that up for Christmas! I can change my letter board out for any saying, so I chose Merry & Bright and put my gold accent tree on it as well.

Bar Cart

I always love changing the bar cart out for seasonal decor. It is the perfect perfect area of the house to display decor! I have my new silver and wooden tree from my BFF Taylor on it, a ceramic white tree, and another glass vase with small ornaments on the bottom of it and an artificial white frosted pine inside it!

Over the couch mantel

This is my other favorite place in the apartment / living room! It is so cute to display not only frames and photos, but also a good place to switch out for seasonal decor. I chose to hang my stockings here (even though we have to take them down every night per the cats swatting them!). I found these really cute stocking holders at TJ Maxx, while my stockings, raindeer and planted tree are all from target!

I hope you enjoyed these peek into my place to showcase my Christmas decor! I had so much fun decorating and it really makes my house a home. Like I said, it was hard starting to decorate with NO base to go off of. I think that’s something I definitely didn’t think of when I moved, having to start from the ground up on holiday decor. It may sound silly, but it’s a part of why I love holidays.
