A Very Glowy Spring

Ahh, I can almost picture it—it’s about 60 degrees out, there’s moisture in the air and it’s replenishing your old winter dry skin by the second. So long, winter skin—hello moisturized, glowing skin.

All winter long my face was dry and flaky—no matter what I did to exfoliate, cleanse and moisturize, nothing seemed to work. My dry skin was not budging, even though my skin care routine stayed consistent. Thank goodness spring is almost here because it seems as though once the spring air hits, my dry skin is gone—along with the last frigid day.

What else happens when dry skin goes bye-bye? A refined makeup routine! Not only will makeup be going on smoother, but we can pack up our cool tones and dark shadows to welcome highlight galore, warm shadow tones and pink lips.

Though I am still working with my winter makeup, I already have my spring makeup routine thought out in my head. There are a myriad of products I am looking forward to purchasing for spring and I am excited to use some of the products I already own, but haven’t had the chance to use in a long time.

Let’s get to the spring makeup look. We’ll start with a clean face, this usually involves me cleansing with Aveeno and following up with my Aveeno Daily Moisturizer. Next, I’ll take my Tarte tinted primer and spread it out on my whole face. Instead of doing full foundation like I did in the winter, I will instead use a BB or CC Cream—Maybelline has a good one, and follow it up with under eye concealer. Next, I welcome all my lovely bronzers—it’s spring now, after all. I’ll strategically place my bronzer on the outskirts of my forehead, contour my cheeks and put it down my neck. Next, I’ll take my favorite MAC shimmering blush/bronzer and start creating my spring, glowy look. I take a small face brush, dab it in my blush/bronzer and hit the tops of my cheeks towards my cheekbones, down the center of my nose and on the bow of my lips. For even more glow, feel free to place it gently on other parts of your face and on your neck and chest.

Moving on to eyes, I’ll fill in my brows as always and then head to shadow. All winter I used my Urban Decay Naked2 palette—which consists of cool toned pinks, mauves and dark crease shadows. To switch it up for spring, I am going to switch to the Colourpop “I think I love you” pressed powder shadow palette, which consists of shimmery browns, yellows and pigmented whites. When you’re through with shadow, swipe your favorite mascara and you’re good to go.

I normally use a pink tone on my lips, and I will continue to do so throughout the spring. The only difference from winter lips is that I’ll be retiring my dark reds and purples until at least October!

Switching up your makeup routine and products with the seasons can be so refreshing. No one is more excited to say goodbye to dry, winter skin and dark colors more than me. Join me in welcoming a glowy spring look.

  1. Hi Rachel, I just wanted to say hi here in the comments as I tried to get in touch with you before for a collab but never heard anything back from you. If you’re open to collabs I’d love to hear from you. You’re more than welcome to write directly to me on michelle@gurupress.co – even if you’re not interested. All the best xx
